The founding partner of the BOWERSOX LAW FIRM is Jeffrey Alan Bowersox. The law firm traces its roots to 1981, when Mr. Bowersox first began practicing law in Bend, Oregon, a small, beautiful community located in Central Oregon near skiing, boating, hunting and other outdoor activities.
In 1987, Mr. Bowersox moved his law practice to Portland, Oregon, the state's major commercial and financial center. After arriving in Portland, Mr. Bowersox merged his firm into another firm and became a shareholder in the law firm of Williams, Troutwine & Bowersox, P.C. That law firm specialized in mass tort litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. Mr. Bowersox's firm represented approximately 250 women in the Dalkon Shield and CU-7 IUD litigation, a number of children in defective baby-formula cases, approximately 40 people in the contaminated L-tryptophan amino-acid/food supplement litigation against the Japanese conglomerate, Showa Denko, as well as a wide variety of claimants in other personal injury, employment, and commercial litigation. Mr. Bowersox's firm litigated one of the first breast implant cases in the nation in the United States District Court for Western Washinton. Mr. Bowersox personally tried to verdict what was, at the time, (1990) the largest slip and fall judgment in the state of Oregon.
In 1992, Mr. Bowersox left downtown Portland to form a new law firm in the rapidly growing, suburban Lake Oswego/217/Kruse Corridor. The firm, Ekman & Bowersox, quickly grew to include six lawyers, and it specialized in injury, commerical, and employment litigation and transactions related to emerging growth businesses. After four years the law partners, Donald Ekman and Jeffrey Bowersox dissolved their firm to allow Mr. Ekman to join the firm's major client, Hollywood Video, as its General Counsel.
The firm is now known as the BOWERSOX LAW FIRM, P.C. Our offices are again located in downtown Portland, with easy access for clients throughout the Portland metropolitan region. (A map and driving instructions are available by clicking the buttons on the "Contact" page of this web site.) Client parking is validated at nearby parking structures and the firm's offices are centrally located on the MAX line and Tri-Met bus mall.
The BOWERSOX LAW FIRM is also centrally located to all three major county courthouses in the metro area, as well as the United States District Court. Moreover, through special rules called "pro hac vice" (a Latin term pronounced "pro hak vi' se", and meaning, literally, "for this occasion") the BOWERSOX LAW FIRM is permitted to represent clients in every state, as well as in Washington, D.C., and all U.S. territorial possessions. In addition to its substantial Oregon client base, the BOWERSOX LAW FIRM currently represents clients in states as far away as North Carolina, Florida, and Michigan.
With worldwide web-based interchange of documents over secure servers, as well as traditional telecommunications and delivery services, geography is no longer a barrier to effective representation of clients across the country.
The BOWERSOX LAW FIRM now specializes in the areas of plaintiff's personal injury law, product liability, legal, medical, and other professional malpractice, certain kinds of work injury cases, and business disputes, including minority shareholder litigation and partnership and franchise disputes.
